The club, which is based at West Stour village hall, in the heart of the Blackmore Vale in Dorset, meets on a Monday evening to undertake the building of layouts in both 'N' and 'OO' gauge..

The modelling activity ranges from track laying to scenic's such as buildings and landscape.

The Shaftesbury and Gillingham Railway Society caters for all interests in the railway scene from modelling to the real thing, from the days of steam to modern times.

There are video evenings, the very occasional quiz and in the summer months a visit to a preserved railway location such as the West Somerset Railway or perhaps further afield.
